Attention, Egg Nog Lovers!

November 28, 2009 4 comments

Why, oh, why is egg nog just a seasonal thing?  It’s as if there were some national decree to keep this luscious treat out of the hands of commoners for ten months out of the year.  Might as well get your fill while you can.  And if you’re gonna have it, splurge and get the very best.

Broguiere’s, a SoCal dairy farm, puts out the absolute best egg nog your mouth could ever dream of indulging in.  At just under six bucks for a 32 oz glass bottle, it’s not the cheapest stuff.  But then again, it’s not the cheapest stuff.  Extremely rich, we “water it down” with some whole milk to get the most bang for our buck.  The amazing thing is that it is so chock full of flavor (without being overly sweet), it hardly loses its punch with the addition of milk.  Our local Vons carries it, but you’ll have the most luck finding it at high-end grocers like Gelson’s and Whole Foods.

Also, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream in Upland is offering Egg Nog ice cream and it is awesome!  Handel’s was named the world’s best ice cream in National Geographic’s The 10 Best of Everything, and The Fun Foodie agrees (see my top five ice cream picks here).  This is just another way to get your egg nog on!

Hurry, egg nog season ends in about a month!
