Famous Dave’s Limited Time Offerings

For a limited time, Famous Dave’s BBQ is offering “Smokin’ Hot Meat Loaf” and “Flame Grilled Ribeye”.  Meat loaf?  Yeah, I had pretty much the same reaction when I first heard about this.  The Fun Foodie is okay with meat loaf, and my wife actually hates it.  But neither of us have had SMOKED meat loaf before.  Famous Dave’s hickory smoked savory goodness versus the classic oven-baked meat loaf is like Manny Pacquiao versus … anyone.  We’ve had the sandwich, which comes with a nice slab of the meat loaf on a toasted ciabatta roll, topped with Jack cheese and onion strings.  So, so good!

In the BBQ world, you have grilling and smoking, which are polar opposites.  Not everyone can do both.  Famous Dave’s has brought these two techniques together in a beautiful fusion of smokey delight.  The Fun Foodie had the ribeye on Thanksgiving, and it was truly one of the tastiest steaks I’ve ever had.  I’m guessing it is smoked as a whole rib roast, then sliced and grilled to order.  The only problem with this method is that the roast is so large, the smoke can only penetrate so far.  The wonderful seasonings and hickory form a delicious crust around the edges.  The steak is topped with a “Barbeque Butter”, which was so good, I wanted to put it on anything within my reach.  It more than made up for the lack of smoke and seasoning in the middle of the steak.  I ordered my steak medium rare, but it came out medium.  It was still very tender and juicy.

Famous Dave’s is on a very short list of national chains The Fun Foodie will frequent.  I’m frequenting it much more often after being crowned “The Best Famous Dave’s Fan” and winning free food for a year.  I’m not competing for anything right now.  This is some great grub!  Go getcha some!
